Participation in the Food Share program (formally called Food Stamps) is on the rise in St. Croix County. In Wisconsin, participation more than doubled in the last eight years. The usual summer lull in new applicants didn't happen last year. The recent increase in Wisconsin's participation rate is among the highest in the nation.

In New Richmond, the percent of who qualify for the free/reduced lunch program has steadily increased over the last fifteen years.
